Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk

Loving Our Women

INS raised money, walked and helped spread awareness for Breast Cancer. INS supports the Making Strides movement to raise lifesaving funds that support breast cancer patients, survivors, thrivers, and caregivers through every step of the journey.  

Supporting Our Men in the Community

Loving Our Men and Families

INS supported the health our our men by participating in the

African American Men Wellness Walk. The Sigma Family walked, passed out bookbags and school supplies at the event.  INS  supports the mission of the African American Male Wellness Agency to increase the life expectancy of African American men in physical health, mental health, financial health, fatherhood and research.

National Initiatives

Collaborative & Innovative

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., is fully committed to assisting those in need and the betterment of communities around the globe. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority works in partnership with national support organizations including the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), National Urban League, The United Negro College Fund (UNCF), and many others.

Since 1922, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. has made a substantial impact stateside and abroad. The Sorority has a proud history of offering service, wherever chapters exist, under the auspice of the organization's signature program entitled, Project Reassurance.  Through active participation in programs and through networking with other organizations such as the National Council of Negro Women, Urban League, and the NAACP, Sigma's legacy of service to improve the quality of life for all mankind continues. The service of Sigma Gamma Rho from a global perspective includes Project Africa and Project Mwanamugimu. Sigma Gamma Rho has been at the center of service for nearly 10 decades!

Project Reassurance

Healthy Choices| Healthy Living| Healthy Generations

Project Reassurance is the signature community service program of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Through Project Reassurance, Sigma Gamma Rho seeks to promote responsible living for teens in today’s world by focusing on prevention of teen pregnancy, personal decision-making, character building, promoting moral values and making good health education choices.

Rap legend and Sigma Gamma Rho Soror MC Lyte is the International Ambassador for the Project Reassurance program.

Breast Cancer Awareness & Health Program

Cancer Awareness & Health Program

African Americans have the highest cancer mortality rates of any ethnic group in the United States. Sigma Gamma Rho is committed to providing support and information about early detection and research for the prevention and cure of breast, colon. ovarian, prostate, and other types of cancers.

This program is in honor of Academy Award winner, and our esteemed Soror Hattie McDaniel.

Youth Symposium

Working together to build bridges for youth

Youth Symposium was designed to highlight some of the prevalent concerns that negatively impact our youth: drugs, teen violence, abuse, low self-esteem, suicide, teen pregnancy, etc. It is held on the second Saturday of March by each alumnae chapter simultaneously across the country for all students in middle and high school.
